This small city was up until a few years ago a quaint & quite forgotten \ ignored 'Old town' lost somewhere in central Europe. Then it seems someone 'discovered' it & now Krakow will not be ignored! There is so much energy & so many ideas pouring over the town (just like the vodka) these days that most people are a little confused. The current foreign influence over the shaping up of services & entertainment has left many local entrepreneurs spinning & chasing fickle behind new ideas, many of which did not & do not really work. ...................For example there are approximately 400 bars\cafes\restaurants just around the old town market square . most of which belong to the failure bucket….. So just to cut through a lot of shite… The places below are what our local contacts & we would recommend 2u2 do you (A to Z), so you can save time & have a good time. Enjoy & if you never leave, you will not be alone… It does however take 300 years or so for a person to become a true 'Krakownian' so you have lot's of time!

Inside the 'Planty' (which the name for the green belt around old town center) really a walkers paradise, although you really have to watch your step as the cobble stoned pathways were set when vodka was even cheaper than it is today & one worker I met told me that "it seemed straight at the time". Although this area is not so big… you will put your coordinated feet to the test with each step taken! Not many cars & an abundance of fully pedestrianized ways. If you like me don't have time to walk, then biking here is great. Not just around town but there are beautiful cycle paths & many lovely trips within a 10 km radius of the Planty… & even if you do meet a car, the driver will probably offer you the right of way & that's very unusual in central Europe… probably drunk! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . During those days more hot candle wax & wailing went on than at the annual Christmas orgy in 'Satan's bedroom, so tread lightly when it comes to talk about religion!

Irish Arms Public house … Actually if you are in then they just lock the door… but they don't stop the drinking till … !!! Now some advice from a man who has been there & done time for it…… No smoking\talking\dreaming\buying\selling\inventing weed joints here! You can get your self in deep shit for a simple puff, & prolong your stay by long enough to learn a lot of Polish swear words!! & if you are looking for trouble then it is easy, just go & do something naughty beside one of the city watch men … he will gladly teach you some 'Polski' stick dances… Momotown Hostel , Enclosed spacious courtyard and to dispel your doubts: phone calls and fifth night free! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Seems that the best afternoon trip is to go out to the Wieliczka Salt Mines. It's an hour on the special bus (Oswiecim) from Pawia \ Worcella St, by the bus station & runs every 20mins. As usual best to book a tour when u get there (it's cheaper). These are mine complexes of tasty white stuff, bring your chips….. If \ when you are still out & about at 4am on Sunday morning then best is to go over to the Kazimir 'ghetto' flea market . Not only could you pick up bargains you won't remember buying but there is also the market sellers big fat sausage …. breakfast stand (available till 6am) set u up for at least the day…. So please remember to pack your Sunday best clothes if you want to visit the churches here & for that matter any where in the catholic euro world..... ....................................................The Travellers inn ,,, Here you may enjoy a calming effect, laid back & open plans. Common sitting room . . . . . . . . . . . . It is also socially acceptable here to drink beer through a straw, so live it up!! Regarding vodka (something I don't like to mention too often) well there is a lot of choice & a lot of risk involved. One thing you should try is the local mix 'Wsciekty Pies' or 'Mad dog' a shot cocktail of Wodky & syrup & Tabasco … not to be sipped or mixed!!!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .. . . . The Bike Tours.... . . .As I said.. biking here is great & safer than other cities.
