Gul Baba`s Shrine
Obviously Hungarians were not happy the time when they were invaded by the Turks for over a 150 years in the 16th and 17th century.
They are happy now, though as
1- they are gone
2- their culture has made a significant impact on Hungary's and they left a number of amazing buildings behind.
This one is the sacred grave of Gul Baba, 'Father of the Roses' a monk and a fighting dervis who died in 1541. His grave is the northernmost place of pilgrimage for the Islam.
The mausoleum is surrounded by a wonderful rose garden, and offers one of the best views of the city.

Kerepesi Cemetary
A place of silence, sun and shadows in the middle of the city buzz. Impressive mausoleums and amazing sculptures under the 300+ year old trees. The most famous Hungarians are here: aristocrats, historical figures, politicians, actors, poets... and many artists - live ones too, as they often come to this stunningly beautiful place for inspiration.

Statue Park
A totally unique totalitarian theme park. While elsewhere in the former Soviet Bloc, leaders & their statues were thrashed and destroyed, in true local style Budapest appreciated while vandalism may offer some mild relief, it would only be temporary. Storing & then displaying these massive works of 'morale-boosting' sculptures would provide an invaluable insight into the propaganda and the beliefs of the era. The journey to the park also shows many individual phases of the city's lifeline...
