Vinohrady. .
was the vineyard area during the reign
of Emperor Charles IV for it was he who introduced
wine growing to the then Kingdom of Bohemia. Still to this day the
wine flows around here. The church at Namesti Miru has in these times made
a name for it's self as a meeting point for youth political demonstrations
(a good
thing, as long as its not related with the neo-nazi scum movement in this
country) and the area is a hive of activity any time of the day or night.
Otherwise the area backs onto Zizkov up at Namesti Jiriho z Podebrad and here
you may experience in stark contrast the difference between The Republic of
Zizkov and the city of Prague Vysehrad is the birthplace of the city under
the Slavic tribe rule after the displacesion of the Celts. The hill its ruins
and church gardens hold a major place in Czech history and folklore.

Then
the Old town, packed with people & places of interest. I'm not going
to go into this area in any detail for you now for there is too much
to say & therefore you wont remember Jack anyway.... Suffice to
say everything that happened in old history happened here, the most
humorous of which is the defenestrations of the Protestants leaders
in 1618, I think all 'leaders' should be defenestrated at least once
in their miserable lives. It would put things in a more balanced perspective
for all those involved. A monument to Jan Hus
stands in the square (which by the way is the recognised centre of the
European continent) he was responsible in an innocent sort of way for
the religious state of much of Europe following the Hussite wars which
resulted after the 'leaders' burnt him alive in the square in 1415 (see
Zizkov )."
