This place is just begging to be left alone, so all the better for you to go
sneak a peak while its still on Secret Squirrel status…… Just a few
stops by tram or a nice walk up the river side… Formerly used as a Loading
Dock for Cargo ships, Andrejsala has in recent years become a Safe Haven for
the fresh & Funky Burn-outs to express their artistic achievements or attempts….
The reflective stencil work & industrial charm of this area are the first
things that hit you, but if you brave souls dare to venture inside one of the
many brick & sheet metal dwellings, you may be surprised at what you find….
Cafes, indie art galleries, mid-afternoon dance parties, & late night "Spokes
of Fury" bike races, this place has got it all with a view of the Old Town
& the Lovely Daugava river to boot…. U wont feel forced to do anything,
this is an open space for people to be & be themselves.. . The state has
been so kind as to post-pone its inevitable plans to gobble this place up..
so for now, the old abandoned Soviet era Ferry, Cranes that look like Dinosaurs
(with a bit of help from a few……. : -), …. Brings it back to
the days of Alan Ginsberg meet's Cold-war kids …..what the fuck is that
supposed to mean?? You gotta' go to know!! It's
all the alternative that Old town is missing. The bar-cinema-concert venue 'dirty

artist residence programmes & kinda' gelling together the entire Art village
that is Andrejsala.
